Boxing clever: Pop Brixton
is South London's newest
 foodie hotspot

Whatever you do, don't call
 Pop Brixton the new Boxpark!

Yes, it's built from Instagrammable shipping containers and buzzing with new eateries and cool shops like the Shoreditch hotspot, but the people behind Brixton’s new foodie destination Pop Brixton are keen to stress that this isn’t just a hipster hangout – it’s a container community with a conscience.

As well as appealing to the hungry Brixton Village overspill with a tasty selection of restaurants, street food vendors, bustling bars, a Japanese tea house and a smattering of vintage shops, Pop Brixton wants to keep a neighbourhood vibe by encouraging local tenants to get involved, welcoming start-ups and offering units at subsidised rates.

There will also be a public garden, an art gallery, a buskers' corner and a 200-capacity event space for gigs, talks and cinema screenings, all just a short walk from Brixton tube station on Popes Road. Whatever you think about what’s happening in Brixton at the mo, you’ve got to admit these folks are thinking outside (and inside) the box.
