#MyFortHare STORY OF Singalone Tengela

I went to University of Fort Hare in 2002 and was unfortunate not to get Tefsa (NSFSAS now) which resulted me being excluded during 'SWARTZISM' in 2003.  I was lucky though to go back again in 2005 after I got a sponsor from the Eastern Cape Department of Education which needed me to start a first year from the scratch in B Ed (science) and since I was thirsty for studying I studied and went to register an Msc in Applied Remote Sensing and GIS.

In South Africa , there are only 2 universities and its University of Fort Hare and others. I still remember vividly the long lines queuing for registrations, course additions, buying food and also queuing for your graduation . This is what I call University of Humility, University of Patience, University of Hope, University of Strikes, University of Direction, University of Leadership. I had a privilege to be an SRC member and I will never ever take that lightly.

I remember shouting at Davidson and singing "Sinqanda amayeye" cheering our boys "Luma ke Blues". I remember dancing at student center the whole nights, I remember attending the biggest events ever "Miss Forte" and "Miss Freshette". The most exciting moment was the time when we were seeing new faces and we used to cal it "fresh-meat"'amafresha'..mandiyibambe apho..hahaha. This institution taught me a lot about life and I now work in a national department , making critical decisions and leading where its possible because the institution groomed and embraced me. If you want your child to know about life and teach him/her about it then University of Fort Hare comes number one in that department.  Khula Nokholeji!!! Khula Foza!! Khula Fohloza!!  Khula UFH (University of Frustration and Hunger)
