Stars speak out about overwhelmingly dominant male festival line-ups

With 2018 Summer festival season looming, it has become apparent that festivals are not listening to uprising controversy of gender imbalance within festival lineups.

Below shows the past 5 years male to female ratio of headline artists in various popular UK music festivals - an overwhelming amount proving to be male artists.

Large festivals such as Reading and Leeds and Isle of Wight have not had a female headline act in the past 5 years and Glastonbury has only had 1.

Female pop-star Lily Allen tweeted a version of The Wireless festival in London with the male acts whited out - "the struggle is real," said Allen.

Radio star Annie Mac has also spoken out about the issue.

With many stars finally speaking out about the disheartening figures, 45 international music festivals have announces that they have signed up to a new programme that pledges to achieve 50/50 gender ratio balance across their lineups by 2020.
