The Galvin Green PGA Assistants' Championship

2-4 August, Coxmoor Golf Club

This year's event was staged at Coxmoor Golf Club and attracted a record number of regional winners from across the UK and Ireland.

Windy and wet weather greeted participants across all three days of play.

Defending champion Mathew Webb came into the competition in confident mood.

Webb sat just two shots off the lead after shooting an opening round score of 71.

A total of five players
shared the lead on two
under par after day one,
including Englishman
Jamie Howarth.

Sian Evans was the
only female player in
the competition.

"To represent the
WPGA and women all
over the country is a
very proud moment,"
she said. "It's an honour
to be here and make the cut."

A patient and positive
approach on day two
helped Matthew
Fieldsend move one
stroke ahead of his
rivals heading into
the final round.

Elliot Groves shot the best
round on the second day
of play. His round of 68
included five birdies and
two bogeys.

A dramatic final day included plenty of twist and turns at Coxmoor Golf Club.

There were lots of changes on the leaderboard throughout the day.

Former European
Tour player Stuart
Davis shot back-to-back
rounds of 70 to put
himself into contention
on level par.

Elliot Groves also finished on level par as both he and Davis waited nervously for the final pairing.

But Matthew Fieldsend
held his nerve to
sink his par putt on
the 18th and claim
the biggest win of
his career so far.
