When history was made...

A look back at Great Britain & Ireland's first ever PGA Cup victory on American soil.

CordeValle in California was the setting for the 27th meeting between GB&I and America in 2015.

John Bevan captained
GB&I, with Albert
Mackenzie as his
vice-captain.

Bevan said: "We've
got some good
characters and
we need nothing less
than our A-game when
we go out there."

GB&I took a fairly inexperienced team to America, which included no fewer than eight rookies

GB&I made a near faultless start with victories for the pairings of Michael Watson & Cameron Clark, David Dixon & Graham Fox and Gareth Wright & Jason Levermore.

But the hosts struck back to  sweep the foursomes 3.5-0.5 and lead 4.5-3.5 overnight.

Day One highlights...

Saturday was a day
for heroes at CordeValle
as GB&I roared back into contention against the
might of America.

The visitors won
the Saturday morning
fourballs and in
warm sun, shared
the foursomes to
tie the match 8-8
going into the
Sunday singles.

Day Two highlights...

An enthralling
Sunday singles went
down to the final
hole before Niall
Kearney coolly
drained an eight
foot putt.

It meant that GB&I had won the PGA Cup for the first time in America!

The visitors had reclaimed the
Llandudno International Trophy

Bevan said: "Our PGA
pros are a class
above as are the US
guys. We probably
watched the highest
standard of golf
outside of the two
tours this week."
