Shorthand named Start-up of the Year at PPA Digital Awards

We are delighted to have been named Start-up of the Year (consumer category) at the Professional Publishers Association Digital Awards in London.

We've been busy over the past couple of years, working with an international range of publishers, including BBC News, The Telegraph, Fairfax Media and Cox Media Group, as well as brands, non-profits, and charities, to offer an intuitive way to build interactive and shareable multimedia stories – without any coding required.

Founded in Australia, in 2013, the company has since expanded with offices now also in the UK and USA.

Shorthand received the PPA award at a prestigious event held at London's Intercontinental Park Lane. Many thanks to the judges and PPA for the recognition, and finally to our clients for their compelling use of Shorthand.

Shorthand CEO Ricky Robinson said:

"It's a real honour to win this award at a time when there is so much innovation happening in the publishing industry at startups and more established companies alike.

"We've always believed well-told immersive stories have the ability to connect with readers on a deeper level, and we've worked hard over a number of years to develop a product that vastly simplifies the process of creating these sorts of stories.

"That hard work has begun paying off in 2015 – there are now 10 times as many Shorthand stories published each month compared to January this year.

"Having established a core user base in the UK and Australia we will continue to expand globally in 2016, so it's a really exciting time for us," Robinson continued.

"We're constantly amazed by the incredible stories our customers – like the BBC, The Guardian, Hearst and The Telegraph – create using Shorthand.

"Honestly, they're the real winners here: the stories they tell are, without exception, amazing and we feel very privileged to be their multimedia storytelling tool of choice."
