Meeting the Needs of the Conservation Sector

In 2015 the WWF Nedbank Green Trust stepped in to help support anti poaching training efforts at the Southern African Wildlife College, based in the Greater Kruger area.

In support, the Trust provided a two-year grant to help establish a fully-fledged anti poaching K9 unit at this training institution.

This forms part of the College's four-tiered approach to anti poaching training: Well trained and equipped field rangers, aerial patrol and monitoring support, a strong canine capability as well as community support.

Today there is an air of excitement, action and expectation at the K9 unit. Successes have been had, new dogs and handlers are being trained, new training techniques are being tested, and the impact of this unit is being felt.

The College's sincere thanks is extended to the WWF Nedbank Green Trust for helping bring the K9 Unit to fruition, and to the other corporate and individual donors who continue to provide support to this vital training component to help counter poaching.
