International Fair
Exchange, Explore and Celebrate Multiculturality
On October 26th 2017 was the third edition of the International Fair at Rennes School of Business. Every year, this event gathers the whole school.
Semesters Abroad Testimonials
Second-year and third-year students were invited to talk about their exchange semesters. They offered precious advice, useful tips, and personal feedback on their semesters abroad. It allowed first-year students to get information on our different partner universities and start preparing their own exchange semesters.
This year, about 20 students talked about their studies in different countries such as Canada, Portugal, Russia, the Netherlands, Poland, Dominican Republic, Belgium, Germany, Australia, China, Thailand, Peru, Japan, Norway, Indonesia, Lithuania, Finland, India, the USA or Turkey.
My advice: live directly on the campus. You'll be around many foreign students, but also Australians!
Several exchange students from partner universities worldwide were also involved in the International Fair. In the afternoon, French students could go to the different booths and get information on their future exchange country, city or university. Is there a better way to get to know a country, than talking about it with locals?
Discovering Other Cultures
The International Fair is also dedicated to sharing and discovering different cultures. With 53% of international students from over 70 nationalities on the campus, this day is the occasion to celebrate multiculturality.
For instance, students could learn how to play mahjong or try Chinese calligraphy. They could also taste delicious home-made snacks prepared by Indian students. Or try to follow our Colombian students and their latino dance moves!
In parallel, a very interesting conference on "Interculturality" was given by Senior Lecturer Don Minday. To illustrate what interculturality means, he used accurate examples of cultural misunderstandings at work or at school. When working with someone from another nationality and with different cultural values, you have to understand that "it's not wrong it's just different".
A Multicultural Show
The day ended beautifully with a show organized by the students' association Well'come. They invited international students to go on stage and perform a dance, a song or any show representing their home countries. Students revealed themselves to be very talented and creative.
All students had the opportunity to
represent their country on stage
On the previous night, we also had the pleasure to be hosting an Indian cultural show: Andhra Natyam, a classical dance performed by a cultural group from Andhra Pradesh, India. A very ancient dance represented for the first time in France, thanks to the Indian Embassy.
In total, about 200 people were involved in the organization of the International Fair including students, the Well'come team and Rennes School of Business' staff.
Thank you!
