MY TOP 7 MOVIES OF THE 1980'S

The 1980's without a doubt was one of the best decades for the film industry. As a result I have decided to share my 7 favourite ones from that time period.

7-DIE HARD

The Best Christmas movie, both exciting and intense as throughout the plot we wonder whether John McClane (Bruce Willis) will be able to stop Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) and save his wife and the rest of the hostages. Several parody versions have also been made but with memorable quotes this one is definitely the best and a thrill to watch.

6-BACK TO THE FUTURE

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and Starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd this is one of the greatest time travel movies ever made. With great humour and cast and brilliant scenes, its one film for people of all ages to watch. And also one of the most important messages is given in this movie.

5-BATMAN

Directed by Tim Burton this film is the 1st Batman to take on a darker tone. Starring Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. While not being a Tim Burton fan this and its sequel are the real exception. And with awesome action and brilliant character development this movie definitely gains its spot on this list.

4-ROBOCOP

This 1987 movie directed by Paul Verhoeven and stars Peter Weller as the title character Robocop. While pretty violent and gory, it does provide some great action scenes for the movie. And with a great emotional development, big twists and a brilliant soundtrack its a movie everyone should watch.

3-REPO MAN

One of the lesser known but widely acclaimed films of the 1980s. Directed by Alex Cox and starring Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean StantonRepo man is one of the greatest films ever made in the 80's. Though it seems confusing at first and you have to watch it a second time to fully understand it, I guarantee there is some great enjoyment in this film.

2-THE TERMINATOR

Arnold Schwarzenegger's most memorable role and the film that put James Cameron on the map. The Terminator is absolutely amazing and with really intense moments its not worth missing. And with a sequel that is just as amazing (though I like this one better) it definitely becomes the franchises strongest point.

1-THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

The second installment in the Star Wars Original trilogy. Described as more visibly exciting this movie goes further into the Star Wars universe than we had seen in the original 1977 movie. My favourite movie of all time this one is unmissable and one of the best sequels that were better than their predecessor. I'd say definitely see this but its likely you already have.
