Halen Mon

The world's finest sea salt, from Anglesey.

Halen Mon's sea salt is enjoyed around the world by chefs, food lovers and even the US president. It has been served at the London 2012 Olympics, political summits and royal weddings and is a vital ingredient in Green & Blacks chocolate and Piper’s Crisps. We are very proud to have Halen Mon as one of the first Cynnal Cymru members.

Halen Mon is committed to producing their products in a sustainable way and reducing their carbon footprint every year. The organisation recycles and re-uses everything they can - even some old salt tanks are in the garden now housing goldfish.

Halen Mon supports the use of energy efficient technology, and are always trying to use less energy. They reuse their waste products as 'co products' wherever possible, and have won awards for their innovative use of them – such as their distilled water sold to clean telescope lenses.

Halen Mon used to package their salt and pepper in foil lined cardboard tubes with metal or plastic ends but despite being sturdy, they were very hard to recycle and so mostly ended up as landfill. Halen Mon therefore decided to change their packaging, meaning their pouches use 50% less material. The card is easily recyclable, and an increasing number of recycling facilities have the capacity to recycle plastic bags, films and pouches so they can continue to reduce their effect on the planet.

Their ethos is to trade only in sustainable sources and ethically traded products.
