And 80% of species in our southern oceans are found nowhere else on Earth.
BUT SOME THINK OUR OCEANS EXIST TO BE EXPLOITED...
...leaving too much damage

Globally, our oceans are in trouble. Three quarters of fish stocks are over-exploited or fished to their limit. Marine animals are being caught, killed or driven from their homes as more of our big blue backyard is industrialised.
And the Great Barrier Reef is fighting for its life.
Thankfully, there are people like you working with people like us.
As the only national voice for our marine wonderland the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) has protected our marine life for 50 years.
We saved the Reef from mining in the 60s, stopped live shark finning, started a sustainable seafood revolution, made marine sanctuaries and helped achieved a global whaling ban.
Together, we're turning the tide.
Because people and nature need each other.
We've only got one ocean. Together we can keep it safe.
